Public Safety First
My responsibility as Sheriff is simple: protect the people of Douglas County and ensure our community remains one of the safest places in Nevada to live, work, and raise a family.
Over the last four years, we have continued to provide professional, responsive, and accountable law enforcement services. We’ve strengthened operations, improved efficiency, and reinforced our commitment to community partnership.
I am running for re-election to build on that progress.
Modern Law Enforcement
Technology That Works for the Community
Over the past term, we have modernized the Sheriff’s Office by embracing proven technology, including:
Advanced cell phone and computer forensic capabilities
License Plate Reader technology
Expanded drone operations
Updated investigative and evidence tools
These tools help us solve crimes faster, deploy deputies more efficiently, and improve officer safety — all while maintaining transparency and accountability.
We have also worked to identify funding sources that allow us to keep pace with evolving technology without placing unnecessary burden on taxpayers..
Current Priorities
Looking ahead, our focus will remain on effectiveness, efficiency, and responsible innovation.
AI-Assisted Reporting
We are exploring AI-assisted report writing programs that would significantly reduce administrative time. This allows deputies to spend more time in neighborhoods and less time behind a desk.
Expanded Drone Capabilities
We will continue expanding our drone program to assist with:
Search and rescue operations
Emergency response
Crime scene documentation
Public safety monitoring during major events
Technology should enhance public safety — not replace the human connection between deputies and the community.
Investing in Our Deputies
The strength of the Sheriff’s Office starts with the people who wear the badge.
We continue to attract high-quality applicants and experienced lateral transfers from neighboring agencies. Many choose Douglas County because they are empowered to do real police work in a professional environment.
Our promotion processes draw strong participation, ensuring that leadership positions are filled by capable, motivated individuals who share our vision of service and accountability.
My philosophy remains straightforward:
Hire good people
Train them well
Hold them accountable
Let them do their jobs
Community Partnership
Public safety works best when law enforcement and the community work together.
We maintain strong working relationships with:
The Douglas County School District
The Lake Tahoe casino and resort community
Local businesses and civic leaders
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Advisory Council continues to provide tremendous support through annual fundraising events. Community partners host events like “Burgers for Badges,” and residents regularly show appreciation for our deputies, especially during the holidays.
That support reflects trust — and we work every day to earn it.
